Right to both. "are you really saying men and women aren't different" is so facile it hurts. But it does provide a sense of superiority.
I've also seen women pushed away from Director+ "operations" roles, where even "biological diff" people will admit they excel.

For an allegedly evidence-focused group, where's the peer reviewed science that female brains are less good at programming?

And as others have said, there are a lot of skills that go into programming. A lack of diversity leads to skill imbalanced teams.

And finally, if you believe there is any sense in which women are underrepresented in tech, it makes BUSINESS sense for a company to fix.

Because it means that there are cases where men (and other overrepresented groups) are getting hired over more qualified women.
