Seems unrelated to me. Should all HTML development stop until H2 kinks worked out?

1. Not unrelated, since HTML Imports leans enough on H2 that the kinks matter. 2. There are "kinks" in other parts of the WC suite

Do HTML Imports lean on H2 more than JS modules?

IDK if you can inline HTML Imports as is like ESM (rollup / webpack / etc.)

You can, but HTML Imports are global. Like if everything in JS was import "foo"; and defined global variables.

This is why HTML modules can export symbols and be imported by JS. That's the direction we're focused on.

Any chance this phase of the design could be less driven by work done internally at Google and then plopped into the world?

It's on the agenda for TPAC, as proposed by Apple

Most people like me won't be at TPAC. Maybe we can do a WC summit with framework maintainers? Redmond?
