"HTML Imports allow all three aspects of a web app to be componentised — markup, style and script."https://www.scirra.com/blog/ashley/34/html-imports-are-the-best-web-component …

Looks like this'll be discussed at next TPAC: https://github.com/w3c/webcomponents/issues/641#issuecomment-305073431 … though no word (I believe) from @mozilla 😞...yet

I haven't heard about imports much lately and Gecko's implementation was removed (dvcs, so, "removed"). @littlecalculist and @annevk, wdyt?

There is interest in the HTML modules idea. We also wanted to see how JS modules and service workers potentially change the design.

Mozilla is not the lone holdout though. Other than Google nobody has been convinced thus far. Only Mozilla communicated as much.

I continue to be pretty skeptical of HTML imports, especially considering all of the bundling work in the framework space.

We have quite a nice auto-sharding bundler, in fact

sounds like an awesome framework for you to build, not a great thing to ship in the platform.

I didn't mean to say "HTML imports are bad" but rather that they're one of many approaches being explored.

In my opinion, they're a weak option today, but YMMV. There's no rush.

I have serious concerns about production-readiness of both Web Components and H2. Better to polish those before moving on to HTML Imports.

That HTML can't load other HTML is a big gap, it can load everything else.
