the story? I really do want to understand why so many in the React community seem to dismiss alternatives like Vue/Glimmer etc out of hand

Were others in the Ember community less nice than you and Tom? People saying as much in those tweets fairly credible
-
I tried hard to lead by example up to and including being extremely effusive about React in our 2.0 roadmap.
-
Deeming a whole community "toxic" because Twitter thoughtlords spat on Twitter is a pretty low bar.
-
In general the discourse on Ember PRs, RFCs, at meetups, at conferences, core meetings and with the React team has been one of idea exchange
-
And I'll note the React core team and Ember core team are have a positive relationship of respect and healthy competition.
-
Yep, this is well known and a good thing

There were lots of little jabs, but I'll be more honest that it was really your other half

Don't disagree with that! You are always open and willing to listen to plebs like me

"toxic" doesn't mean "debating ideas while saying nice things a lot of the time, including in our roadmap, and integrating ideas"
