I tried hard to lead by example up to and including being extremely effusive about React in our 2.0 roadmap.

In general the discourse on Ember PRs, RFCs, at meetups, at conferences, core meetings and with the React team has been one of idea exchange

And I'll note the React core team and Ember core team are have a positive relationship of respect and healthy competition.

Aaand Ember folks go to React conf and React guys go to Ember confs. Not to fight, but to share experience and come up with better solutions

Positive discourse does happen. 2013 community is a lot different than 2017 community.

Indeed. I can't speak for the rest of the Ember community, but I've always been pragmatic looking for new ideas. Enjoyed react folks there.
