I don't need HN for that. The people I follow on Twitter do plenty fine.
-
I also get to see articles critical of YC companies, HN, and about tech I care about more than HN commenters.

In my experience novice programmers are quick to dismiss things which make one's life easier because that's not "challenging". (1/2)
-
They think what distinguishes a good programmer from a bad one is the complexity of the tools they use rather than the quality of code (2/2)

Their comments on Discourse this week were hard to read. It's amazing how negative it is there.
-
It sucks because there are still gems on there, but I'm not sure the ratio is worth it.
-
The negativity is one thing. The dismissal of entire categories of programming whole hog is quite another.

Remember: computers are a thousand levels of abstractions, but if you don't know the one *I*know best you're not a real programmer.

Wow, what is this clusterfuck of words even? Knowledge is like jelly, the less of it you have, the more you need to spread it.
