I don't think it's friendly or common. Most people have no idea on all three definitions here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Applicative …

Probably too strong of a word I used

-
if we're going to talk about words that have been bad for a long time, and need to get shot out of a cannon, lets nuke "then" as well?
-
then seems a little different than Applicative Functor.
-
I sorry, I wasn't implying as such. I was referring to the lack of understanding for proper usage / understanding.

FWIW, as a web developer, I love elm's haskell-like language. You'll notice none of those words in their docs https://guide.elm-lang.org/core_language.html …
-
One reason is that Elm has explicitly avoided having those abstractions at all, or even really making them possible.
-
Yes, this is very true. (Like I said, it's very limited). But they still have "tasks" for complex async tasks, and first-class functions.
-
And sorry if I come off as combative, just trying to share my perspective. I wish I did understand the Haskell world better.
-
s/Haskell/functional/ I once attended a talk by Jay McCarthy about continuations in racket and remember my head spinning the entire time.
-
https://www.infoq.com/presentations/continuations-web-os … I know lisp syntax generally, I understand continuations (node.js style), ...
-
...I even aced graduate classes on programming language design with a focus on OCaml. But I could not keep up with the talk. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
