I think it's woeful and bad for JS that we need to scale our code big, and I think FE would be better if it like backend could go micro.

I don't think I agree that backend has gone micro. Process isolation doesn't magically create abstraction boundaries.

Lambdas and the things like it are a the likely outcome for the various clouds. Has a drastic impact on architecture.

But apps are still apps. Functions serve the same useful role in cloud apps as they serve in normal programs.
