Hitler was originally mentioned, but discussions *about* that comment are past the event horizon of GL :P

OK. Sure. Lots of people invoke GL to deligitimize comparisons to Hitler so I just wanted to mention this. Carry on.

I think the main thing about GL is that mentions of Hitler create an environment that is ripe for cognitive bias, so it should be avoided

I think we can agree that most such comparisons are unjustified and unproductive... but clearly not all.
