Debian or Ubuntu pplz: What would it take to get Ruby as a scripting language shipped by default?
but that's circular. in order for software to require it, someone must have believed it would ship.

there would undoubtedly be an intent to port existing python tools to python3. Probably just seemed like a shoe in.

the 2->3 transition, like 2.6->2.7 transition was partly about EOL and the debian security pledge.

I assume there is some process by which I can press my case. I'd be willing to do work and work in the system.

Python isn't in the base install. Basically the only scripting language that's pretty deeply used is Perl

likely it's because most users have gnome and gnome needs Python.
