Imagine if games loaded their models from I/O and then converted them between 5 different formats before uploading vertices to the GPU.
to be fair, WebRender does use retained mode semantics which has some conversion work.

Well I'm not talking about immediate mode. You can read retained from disk. WebRender doesn't do it because it supports legacy APIs.

WebRender doesn't see CSS as legacy APIs. What do you have in mind?
