Can I move to the timeline where NetBSD took over the world and people actually understand what it means for code to be portable?
#ifdefs for all platforms might be fine for the lowest layers of abstraction, no?

That doesn't excuse using them when there are portable ways to write the same code.

I work on the web and Rust. I have portability in my blood.

I maintained an app across Win, Mac, Linux, and Solaris. Too many devs only think in one platform and ifdef.
