@bfalkner can you give examples of observables being a better abstraction for single values? Other than cancellation?

It's equivalent in that case but will share a common interface with all your data structures.

not quite. Promises are async, guarantee one value over the lifetime (can't get called twice), ergonomic collapse of complete.

certainly not. I'm not sure right now why I tend not to need them. I'll look at some code and see what's serving that need.
