I don't remember ember shipping a compiler. Only optionally for those without build steps
-
-
not all of the work, but for example <some-component /> is often very static and inlinable.
-
<fa-icon icon="bug" /> can expand in the precompiler if there's no JS behavior to <i class="fa fa-bug" />.
-
now that we've shipped Glimmer inside an Ember release build (literally today), excited for next steps

The cost of compiling to that language can't be cheap though.
-
server-side compilation cost isn't a big concern, because: 1/
-
1. the realtime constraint is on the client, not the server, and the realtime constraint is severe. 2/
-
2. you precompile once and then serve the static asset tons of times, so easily amortizes. 3/3
-
I precompile every time I change a template, no? You said this wasn't complex.
-
But it sounds like I have to change my development workflow to accommodate this.
-
What's not complex is F5 to recompile.
-
Oh believe me that is complex.
