Has anyone collected data in their Open Source projects on diversity? It's surprisingly difficult to get solid data :(

if we are trying to estimate the overall demographic distribution we will be thinking we have more diversity than we do

what's the goal of collecting the data? (e.g. we track for emberconf to see if our efforts are working)

exactly, we are tracking to see how we do over time. it's easy with events, and we do that already.

doing it across the entire tech community would show tiny results for significant efforts.

I think we need more "here's what we did and our results" to encourage people to follow successful patterns.
