Has anyone collected data in their Open Source projects on diversity? It's surprisingly difficult to get solid data :(

last year we asked "Do you self-identify as an underrepresented demographic in technology?", with pretty broad answers

if we are trying to estimate the overall demographic distribution we will be thinking we have more diversity than we do

what's the goal of collecting the data? (e.g. we track for emberconf to see if our efforts are working)

exactly, we are tracking to see how we do over time. it's easy with events, and we do that already.

doing it across the entire tech community would show tiny results for significant efforts.

we want it across the GitHub org and per repo, that's where we think we can measure impact.

I think we have pretty good evidence of successful efforts. Don't need to get measurements right up front.

technically we do a community survey, but the survey also reflects efforts at the main conf.
