I just hope they don't do like the 1.8 to 1.9 transition. Backporting features into stable should be a no-go (looking at 1.8.7)

what would you say was the cost of Ruby doing this?
-
the cost to whom? For the Ruby devs I don’t know but it violated my soft. engineering rules :) didn’t made my life easier as a user
-
how did it make your life harder?
-
and I’m not sure (but you would know) whether it made 1.9 adoption faster (I do not believe so)
-
moving 1.8.7 closer to 1.9.2 made it easier to write shims, which made the transition smoother.

We moved to py3 easily. We also did between angular1 and 2. Maybe we are a bad indicator but tranisition to new tech is fun and easy
