Not providing subsidies ≠ punishing. (And yes, Trump’s trade policies are terrible.)

-
the idea of Trump is that the government can do something about it. Subsidies for American factories are such a thing.
-
I don't see anyone calling for a reduction in other subsidies, like oil etc because of course they're not. It's not about policy.
-
Oil receives relatively little in subsidies, but I support revoking them, too. For more, I recommend the work of
@alexepstein. -
TSLA also gets relatively little in subsidied.

@IngrahamAngle@DailySignal as a coder surely u can hold more than 1 idea in ur head at a time: fake jobs = subsidies + bad industry -
electric cars are a bad industry?
-
for the tax payer, yes. It is wealth transfer to Tesla shareholders.
-
there are loooots of companies getting subsidies in various forms.
-
yes and this is generally a mistake. Especially when it is used for the benefit of shareholders.

notice they don’t question any of the subsidies that are paid to oil?
-
valid point. It should stop across the board.
-
stopping one subsidy is not a less good version of stopping them all. It's punishment. Stop them all, sure.
-
yes. Tax money can be used for better things then keeping some favorited companies afloat.
