Trump will keep Bannon around, no matter what anyone says, because Bannon inflates his ego, and it's a way Trump can assert his power.

I don't think Trump thinks in terms of "political capital" that is "spent". He's playing demagogue, not policy maker.
-
but the real world doesn't work that way, and the capital is spent.
-
The real world DOES work that way, though, more often than not. This is an extremely common pattern in history.
-
maybe so. I suspect putting out fires is going to take a lot of his time unless he can burn down Washington (not impossible, scary)
-
fwiw I strongly agree with fighting Trump's appointees by calling out all of the problems with them.
-
I'm more or less saying I think that will work.
-
I think that's necessary as well! But it's also the obvious move, and the one that this strategy always wins against. So I despair.
-
why put out the fires when he can just keep blaming them on sabotage from liberal elites, justifying further authoritarianism?
