I haven't used since '13. However, everytime I use a Windows computer I suffer. Mostly because I'm used to *nix systems

Windows Subsystem for Linux ("bash for windows") is a game changer.

I'm aware of it but I've never tried it. I should give it a chance before being so drastic. If they continue in that direction.

I switched to Linux a few weeks ago, there was surprisingly little I miss from the Mac ecosystem

Windows is a great choice IMO (and has been). But you're right- everyone will look at you strange. It's an uphill battle

after not having used a Mac since 1997, I threw in the towel and got a MBP last July. I got it specifically to avoid friction
