the split between attributes/children that makes XML bad at serialization actually makes it great at markup.

not always. In glimmer we needed to restore arbitrary nested expressions in attrs. JSX does it by allowing JS.

JSX is mostly to look like HTML. Actually has a ton or downsides along with the readability benefits. Pure JS is simpler.

are you talking about XML DSLs as data formats or *domain* formats? JSX maps to problem domain (HTML transformation), easier XSLT.

JSX uses XML-ish as markup. XML is great for markup, but this is distinct from its use as a serialization format and alt. to JSON.
