The secret to both avoiding & fixing code hoarding is learning to declutter "inline," as we add features, instead of as a separate event.

Hoarders is a TV show. Most people who have that problem don't have the resources to make organizing their house an event at that scale.

Likewise, most organizations with hoarded code don't have the resources for a big-bang rewrite. They need a method to fix it inline.

The problem with "joy" as a criterion is that it's so personal. With our stuff, it makes sense. But typically an organization owns the code.
