how often are your designers actually digging into this stuff - always seemed like a big "if" @wycats @ryanflorence @chantastic
the context is just lexical scope + optional self (a la Ruby).

I think the issue from a dev stand point is you have to learn yet another language
@jkarttunen@ryanflorence@chantastic -
you have to learn a language, or the rules of the JS subset either way, tbh.
-
Yeah, I'm unsure who these "designers in our HTML who pass out when they see anything else" are.
@joegaudet@jkarttunen@chantastic -
it's not about passing out, of course :) it's about what people are comfortable with.
-
my point was just that using JSX well requires decent knowledge of what you're supposed to do

also took some figuring to wire two child components together with the {{yield this}}
@jkarttunen@ryanflorence@chantastic -
`yield this` is more-or-less equivalent to `yield self` in Ruby (you write Ruby, right?)
-
yeah, I got there eventually, the confusion was in connecting it to the as |foo| HBS
@jkarttunen@ryanflorence@chantastic -
makes sense. the key with hbs is treating it like a real lang that follows real scope rules
-
if you do, a lot of your previous knowledge is highly portable.

There were some exceptions pre-2.0, but none anymore. The impl of g2 is bog standard.
