Node.js choosing .mjs will likely go down as one of the most shortsided decisions made by their leaders. Reminds me of Python 3.
I honestly don't see what the rush is to ship standard modules right now. Why not let things settle first?

they are settling. However browsers shipping them then devs retroactively changing things is bad.
