An incomplete list of code I don't wan to maintain: a blog. So what do you think... svbtle .com, ghost .io, or other? I want a custom domain
-

@wycats Do you mind elaborating on the limitations? -
@jlsuttles hosted ghost supports themes, but they can only affect UI, and the configurability of the back end is light. -
@jlsuttles you can host your own ghost and do whatever you want but that kinda defeats the purpose for me. -
@jlsuttles also people seem to trust Github pages way more than my experience warrants. -
@jlsuttles we're transitioning Ember stuff off Github Pages due to uptime and performance issues.

@wycats@jlsuttles every hosted blog I’ve ever used has screwed me. My site is on Jekyll now. Maintenance is minimal -
@schneems@jlsuttles and uptime/performance is minimal too (on Github pages?) -
@wycats@jlsuttles I’m running on Heroku, an employee benefit
. If I wasn’t, I would compile on Heroku then upload and serve from S3 -
@schneems@jlsuttles all this seems legitimately more annoying than hosted Ghost -
@wycats@jlsuttles agreed, but if/when Ghost goes away and you have to migrate your content somewhere else, will it be more or less work? -
@schneems@jlsuttles I'll get a JSON dump and write script to emit .md files in under 30m ;) -

@jlsuttles@schneems I don't want to live my life in fear of what shutdowns will mean. If the data is exportable, I'll deal with it then. - 1 more reply
