As we're getting closer to landing Glimmer, I'm more and more nervous about extensive reliance on private APIs.

@wycats Glimmer is itself a low level and internal component of ember. Doesn’t seems that bad to use private APIs from within private APIs

@MiguelCamba the problem is that people can (and do) rely on the old low-level and internal component that Glimmer replaces.

@wycats Got it. I misunderstood completely the first tweet. I think I’ve never used a private API of the view layer. Any example?

@MiguelCamba _childViews, isVirtual, appendChild outside of `render`

@wycats oops. I did use _childViews once or twice. Not nowadays. I'll avoid them

@wycats You never promised private APIs wouldn't change. I think people get that.

@bfalkner the problem is that the internal usage is the kind that is hardest to change, especially if the original author has left the team

@fancysandwiches We'll see how people feel when their apps stop working ;) "But you promised semver!" Yes, yes we did.

@wycats You guys do so much freakin' work to remain backwards compatible, and ensure smooth upgrades, don't go out of your way for assholes.
