All of these programming jobs that allegedly can be done productively with only low-bandwidth comms with other humans sound depressing.

@wycats 100% agree, bouncing off others is so vital and makes the job much more fulfilling. But I'm not sure hi bandwith solves the problem

@jsaltr there is no technology in 2015 that is high bandwidth enough. Maybe in a few years.

@wycats So, remote work is problematic to you? Or just that remote work has to be augmented w/ in-person meetups regularly?

@knowtheory I find myself very unproductive doing any kind of creative work separated from other collaborators.

@nateberkopec OSS without regular face to face meetings in my experience is pretty depressing and unproductive.

@wycats can't argue with the social part. Everyone's needs are different though. Not everyone gets their "people time" at work.

@wycats define "low-bandwidth"? Personally, I've never been more productive or happier than when working from home.

I agree with @wycats. I think remote working is a poor substitute for a real office. I find it depressing to be at home at 3pm on a weekday.

@wycats When you say "only", are you excluding daily standups? Because I'm so much more productive alone than at the office.
