@addyosmani Too bad to see you getting on the packaged apps bandwagon. Proprietary API, non-URL-addressable apps != web apps.
@oscargodson If I'm in the rdio "packaged app" and want to share my current location, how do I do that? Hint: not URLs @addyosmani @tomdale

@wycats@addyosmani@tomdale In both Spotify and Rdio you can share the track via a URL (you meant track, not location, right?) -
@oscargodson@wycats@addyosmani Clicking the “Share” button to get a URL breaks the web. You don’t need custom UI in every app to share! -
@tomdale@wycats@addyosmani If you added that URL bar you then have a link to share to open the desktop app if you have it or web if not -
@oscargodson So the URLs are to the walled garden version of the app? Exactly. They aren't web apps.@tomdale@addyosmani -
@wycats@tomdale@addyosmani Who said they were web apps? I'm confused. -
@oscargodson Why should I have to build a web app and then an identical packaged app and build custom interop?@tomdale@addyosmani -
@wycats@tomdale@addyosmani You don't have to. It's just a choice and they also don't have to be identical. I'm so confused… -
@oscargodson We need the capabilities of "packaged apps" in web apps, not a bifurcation into proprietary-land.@tomdale@addyosmani - 3 more replies
