As a small businessman, I'll hire good JavaScript engineers in San Francisco regardless of the tax rate. #debate

@wycats I had to give up my business over tax rates, paid double making half as much as now

@wycats The taxes I paid for my income as a business owner making about half what I make now were double what I pay now.

@wycats Remember, you're not even close to the *marginal employer*. On supply side: will good engineers work for you regardless of tax rate?

@rubiety there aren't enough "marginal employers" to make the tax cuts worth it.

@wycats Not saying they are worth it, just interesting how argument for labor demand elasticity of 0 can be made so blithely.

@rubiety because everything is cost/benefit, and tax cuts on corps have low cost/benefit if the goal is to create jobs.

@timocratic cities can charge taxes that are related to the value they provide to the industry. SF provides more value to ~ than we pay tax

@wycats not much #debate here. I think the concern is about much larger companies finding it worth having their megaplex elsewhere, though.

@wycats I agree. I was also thinking more of the SF specific concern: "big startups will leave, unless we change city taxes"
