Is it just me, or do Parental Control systems in popular apps basically not work at all for common use-cases?
That probably works for slightly older kids. @wykittens isn't "breaking the rules" on purpose, he's just still exploring the UI and looking for interesting stuff (which doesn't correspond with quality or even reasonable content)

Yeah, it really ought to support whitelisting. If I can do it manually by subscribing to YouTube Red and downloading the videos...

You're spot on, netflix and youtube don't seem to have parents working for them, or are even listening to them. This doesn't seem like it's any huge technical hurdle, and would win them huge parental loyalty.
