      this question is hard. I don't consider English my first language, and I grew up in a Spanish-speaking country, speaking Spanish with my family, but I had pretty heavy exposure to English and am pretty well into native-level with it. So I guess the q depends on cultural questions

      that is, if this question is being asked out of concern of whether or not I'd be able to understand complex technical English with advanced vocabulary? Yeah, I would. If it's about whether I would be comfortable in circles where English is not the main language? Yeah, I would.

      Im thinking a lot about how programming languages are heavily biased towards native English speakers and Im curious how much (if any) thought goes into some of the terminology we use - how translatable is it to other languages?       Ruby is an interesting data point, because the Ruby core team is largely Japanese, and many members of the core team don't speak much English.
