It’s easy to project personal perspective on the season into how we interpret their answers. Staff on the show had a much different experience and I think this is the least charitable interpretation of the answer.

I also think they aren't in a win win scenario. No matter what their reaction was it would be cut up and deciphered. There is no situation you are away free so being put on the spot like that you're not always going to know how best to answer.
