‼️The #SR520Trail is officially open across Lake Washington! It’s a beautiful day to cross the lake!

Commuted home by bike from Redmond to Seattle today—so glad it’s finally open! Please address all of the seam bumps though. They’re not bike friendly at all and will likely cause many crashes and flat tires. Hope this will be improved soon!

The ¼” plates serve 3 purposes: allow the public to travel over expansion joints, support emergency/maintenance vehicles and allow the bridge to move with changing lake levels. In response to concerns, we’ve added signs and warning stripes on either side of the plates.

Definitely need to address the bumpy expansion joints. I-90 trail is very smooth and this new trail should be held to the same standard.

As someone who uses the Elliott Bay Trail on the regular, I so wish this were the case. And that trail even has pedestrian *and* bike lane designations, which I admit I've seen both groups ignore.
Congrats WSDOT. Been waiting three years, but we're out of town! 😞 See you when we return.
