We're lighting the 520 bridge in Seattle Metropolitan's Red & Green this week in honor of the 1919 Stanley Cup. We're excited to highlight a unique bit of Seattle history - the Metropolitans were co-champs after the series was called off due to the Spanish Flu

Good morning! Are you joining #ShakeOut day? At 10:21a.m. we're practicing drop, cover, and hold on. Fun fact: the SR 520 bridge has “isolation bearings” that allow it to move up to 40 inches in any direction during an earthquake!

On this day 5 years ago, we celebrated the grand opening of the new SR 520 floating bridge! Nearly 30,000 people came out to celebrate with us in 2016 on the world's longest floating bridge. Were you there?

Behind the scenes: we're in a maintenance access chamber INSIDE the 520 bridge! Those giant expansion joints help the bridge "move" - up & down when Lake WA's water level changes, expand & contract when water temperatures change, and sway north & south when it's windy out.

Check out our time-lapse of the hungry, hungry excavators! Montlake Project crews worked around the clock to remove the old overpass and have it trucked away in just a little over two days. ⏱️

Update for #SEABikes - we’re moving forward with replacing the narrow cover plates on the #SR520Trail! Aiming to have the new ones installed by late summer. Thanks to all who gave us feedback & took our survey!

This weekend we opened a new bus only lane on the WB 520 exit to Montlake. Bus riders, have you noticed a difference in your commute? Let us know!
The westbound state route 520 off ramp to Montlake Boulevard is filled with cars, and there are multiple buses in a bus only lane to the right.
