I can practically taste the cinnamon rolls! Getting ever closer to SR 20 North Cascades Highway opening. Remember, recreation is allowed beyond the closure gates Friday-Sunday, just be aware of avalanche potential before heading up.

This week of spring clearing on SR 20 North Cascades, crews made a cut past Spire Gulch and have started in on the Liberty Bell avalanche paths near milepost 163. They're closing in on the summit of Washington Pass but are still several weeks out before the road opens.

Heads up to travelers - the SB lane of SR 25 at MP 44.6 just north of Hunters is CLOSING due to the shoulder sinking off the hillside due to failing slope caused by runoff. Crews are en-route to set up an automated flagging system to allow alternating traffic in the NB lane.

A good reminder as we continue through Work Zone Awareness month. All road workers want to go home safely at the end of their shift. Please do your part to help by staying alert and giving them room.

This is an important thing to remember as we head into busy construction season. Especially for longer weekend closures, if you go by & don't see anything happening, it's often because concrete is curing. Much of the visible work happens at night.

No workers on WB I-90 west of Preston right now because the right side concrete is still curing where we repaired part of a bridge approach. We expect to reopen all lanes late this afternoon. We’ll be back 10am Mon April 17 to 6pm Wed April 19 to repair the WB left side.

Couldn't let the day end without wishing you and your animal pals a happy #NationalPetDay. I recently lost one of my cats but I've still got these two to help me come up with a Tweet or drawing now and then.
