I would suggest that you read books allied to your topical material. Expect your story to morph during execution. Keep in mind a story is in the telling, but let your dialog be revealing. Remember to use all eight of your senses and have fun.

You ask yourself: what are the "eight senses" this chawbacon speaks of? Here they are. Sound/auditory, taste/gustatory, smell/olfactory, touch/tactile, body movements/vestibular system, introception, body awareness/proprioception. I might add a ninth--extra-sensory perception.

Read your favorite books over again and pay attention to structure and pacing. Take notes of things you notice the author doing you think are cool. Eventually you'll build your own toolbox to try stuff out. Grats on the groundwork!

Everyone has their own process. But something Aaron Sorkin talks about for screenwriting makes sense to me. Your main character has to have intention and obstacle. What he/she wants and what stands in the way. That is the foundation for drama. Good luck!!
