The Kasr (fortified village) typically has about 1000 houses, all built with 3-5 rooms around a central courtyard, in stone of 50cm thickness, about 1000 years ago. Don't forget the social aspect. As there is no need for any spaces, where men and women come together, there is no need for public spaces, except the market and the mosque. Everything happens in the house.
