So, where do you live?

Central Tokyo. Counter intuitively not a smart city. Plenty of redundancy, one city with hundreds of human scaled local centers. Not perfect but it is my home so far.

It reminds me of the fad among housewives in the 70s for computers in sewing machines. It was considered super-fancy and modern and high-tech and sci fi and cool. The problem was that the more xtra stuff you put on a s.machine the faster it breaks and becomes useless.

Come to think of it I never met anyone who actually used any of the digital functions on their sewing machines. I know I didn't. Maybe the buttonhole function?

Completely agree. Smart cities seem designed to take away agency. Why bother thinking if infrastructure does it for u. It's a form of control masquerading as facility.

After studying cities of the pre-industrial cities, and cities in general for the last 10 years, pre-industrial cities were anything but dumb... But it’s a funny point!
