Last week, we discussed #muscularchristianity, the @ymca, and its rise in #cleveland. It was chartered with a specific mission, to prevent "the ruin, physical and spiritual, which overtakes so large a proportion of the multitude of young men constantly arriving in our city."

When you look under the hood of Muscular Christianity, it's main proponents were Anglo-Protestants, especially Anglicans, Episcopalians, and Presbyterians.
