Ohio had a @SpartanRace on Sat and Sun. Männerbünde should integrate such events into their plans. Yes, "Spartan Race Inc." with the flame jumping, spear throwing, and wall to wall corporate sponsorship seems a bit hokey at first but hear me out.

When you walk into the paddock you will first realize, that it's
#HandsomeThursday and you need to stop eating crap. Compared to almost any other place in North America, the participants are fit. Yes, some runic tattoos, but it's a different planet compared to Wal-Mart1 reply 0 retweets 6 likesShow this thread -
Before every race, the "M.C." gives you a Spartan-themed pep talk before the race. Again, given the context it's a bit contrived, but with your Männerbund with you, it's electrifying. You should feel like a warrior ready for a great trial

The race itself is great. The Sprint is about 4.5 miles and 20 major obstacles, which is just the right distance. Any shorter and you make it too easy for powerlifters. Any longer and endurance athletes walk away victorious.

The obstacles separate a Spartan Race from a Fun Run. They could be anything, traverse walls, rope climbs, monkey rings, monkey bars, atlas stone carry, farmers carry, fireman carry, barbed wire crawl, etc. etc. You fail an obstacle, you do burpees, a lot of burpees.

Most of the obstacles are solo challenges, but several of them are heavily facilitated by your brothers with you. For folks without .mil background, there aren't many ways where you and your mates can solve a physical challenge like this again and again

Think of it like a teambuilding exercise without feelings or trust falls, instead you have mud, spears, atlas stones, and barbed wire. After the race you strip down, shower off and celebrate with frands. @bronzeagemantis would approve.
