Software preservation is tricky. What are the chances that any software written today will be still runnable in 10, 20, 30 years on an average computer with no modifications? The Web does the best job so far but it’s not perfect.

Museums do the preservation for traditional art. Incentives are tourism and social prestige. Is there a digital equivalent? The console emulation community does a good job. Just tested and took 2 google searches and 5 mins to play Super Mario Bros 3. 30 years old software.
