The women who assumed leadership (@TamikaDMallory @lsarsour) responded to criticism of their support for bigot, Farrakhan, by defending it/dismissing those hurt.
Their tone deaf response to criticism (again) shows these “leaders” are out of step w this movement & must step down.

The Women’s March is bigger than these four women. They don’t seem to understand that. As a result, they’re hurting the movement as a whole. WE, the marchers, are the movement. WE decide who speaks for us. They have abused the privilege of being our voice. They have to go.
-
Are they the ones tha booked
@SenSanders#dividerinchief to be a speaker? -
IMHO They should resign their positions since they don’t represent the overwhelming majority.

This is an incredible start. Heartfelt, honest, and open about the struggles intersectional feminism poses. Let’s keep talking and learning.
-
It's meaningless when it's a statement issued by the organization, rather than by the key individuals within the organization who have been praising Farrakhan. I didn't need to hear anything from
@womensmarch. I needed to hear from Mallory. And Perez. And Sarsour. -
Curious why?
-
Because they are the ones who were palling around with and praising Farrakhan, and refusing to condemn his bigotry when called on it. Issuing an organizational statement tells me nothing about them, individually, recognizing they were wrong. It's meaningless
-
Without that personal statement, it comes across as a way of assuaging critics that, say, Mallory can then say "it was an organizational statement, we had to" if asked by her NOI friends. An insincere shell game
-
Really interesting point. I hadn’t thought of it that way. Curious how NOI responds
-
It's also not an apology and no responsibility is being taken for what happened after people voiced their displeasure of the Farrakhan support. Leadership made further problematic and harmful statements. This organization message addresses none of that.
-
Yep. Sarsour backing up Minister "Let me tell you about Jewish history" leaps to mind

Your statement is hollow PR.
@womensmarch has demonstrated time and again an inexcusable tone deafness from trying to erase Hillary, to attacking those who spoke out against Sanders headlining your convention. 1/ -
any organization whose leadership includes those who would spew toxic bigotry is one that true progressives would shun. You co-opted a movement and now your time has come to an end. Your participation is an unnecessary distraction 1/

Nowhere in this statement does it disavow Farrakhan or state that you will discontinue associating with him. This is worse than Trump’s Charlottesville blunder. Ya’ll are a catastrophe.
-
your statement is weak and uninspiring. Jews have been dealing with anti-semitism for long enough, how can you ask for more patience? it appears to be written out of obligation and not because you disagree with the sentiment.

Thank you! No supremacy shpuld be tolerated. It is agaisnt feminist tenets, and agaisnt intersectionality. This statement is a farce.
