That's it! I made an interesting library: A type for validating form fields and more! It's a static land compliant monad, so it's easy to integrate and use.

🔥 When making a design responsive, don't stop at simply making things fit on smaller screens – look for ways to borrow usability patterns from native mobile apps, too. For example, anchoring modals to the bottom of the screen instead of the center, making them easier to reach.

my favorite UI abstraction is a state machine component. It's got: 🧠a brain — state machine 💪a body — react component brand new post shows how it's done!

/1 How are people doing realtime data with with unreliable clients? If you have a mobile device whose connection is dropping and missing websocket messages, how does that client tell the server hey I last got x message give me everything I missed?

📌Functional Programming is all about Functions. Composition of functions naturally follows from that. Two functions are most commonly used for function composition: pipe (left-to-right) and compose (right-to-left).

Sorry but this is painful... Back when people suggested that JS Promises could use a monadic interface they were shouted at. Now they are introducing "optional chaining syntax". More magic syntax. The underlying concept is of course again just a monad.

TIL: you can create your own Node.js repl with just a few lines of code. 😲 This can be handy when you develop a large Node app and you want to provide an easy way to prototype and debug things with the application state.

Much of the tension in product development and interface design comes from trying to balance the obvious, the easy, and the possible. Figuring out which things go in which bucket is critical to fully understanding how to make something useful. Read on:

Too many devs still overuse deep inheritance hierarchies with “dynamic dispatch” (calls to subclass from parent). Need a special IDE just to read it! Give me lambdas, lexical scope - I’ll pass explicitly, thanks. Avoid years of pointless “I’m smart” design discussions.

📌 Purity is a fundamental concept in FP. A function is pure if: ⚪️Only operates on its inputs ⚪️Same output for a given input 🔴Does not access/modify shared data 🔴Causes no side effects

With Design Systems being such a buzzword and everyone wanting to have a "Design System" we decided to internally define what we think constitutes a Design System and we settled on something similar. It has to consist of Code, Design Assets and Guidelines/Documentation.

I've seen some captchas that made me think "I'd need to be a robot to solve that". The truth about captchas is that machines can do specific tasks better than humans, and mimicking human user interaction is a very specific task.
