Maybe we could have a “virtue signaling” CO2 counter for all virtual talks we give counting the flights that we saved coupled with drives to/from airports, trains, etc. we could then put in our websites, etc. and compete to see who has more “likes”, so 2020’s.

Nice idea. The challenge is making virtual talks accepted. Gave one last year, but was just told a computational / HPC meeting 'didn't have the capabilities' for me to give a remote talk in March. Huh?

I'd love to see more of this as well and have been thinking about it a lot this year. Questions I've had: what tech is needed to make this better than just a webinar? How to foster the close contact with students (and faculty) that we value? How can we lead and/or support?

I agree. As our department seminar chair this is definitely on the list for discussion.

Technology-wise, the hardware is basic: internet, computer, web cam, and microphone. We've really been fortunate that
@EmoryUniversity pays for@zoom_us which has a webinar feature allowing thousands of people to tune in at once, and it can be live-streamed to Youtube.Hvala. Twitter će to iskoristiti za poboljšanje vaše vremenske crte. PoništiPoništi
