my hypothesis is that as nature as fades from our collective psyche, as we become less aware of humanity's place w/i the greater universe/stars, we become more focused on "our" place w/i humanity us vs the universe devolves into us vs them
simplified: the less meaning we derive from pve (player vs environment), the more meaning we try to create from pvp (player vs player)
what % of humanity gets to star bathe every night? how has that changed over the last ~200 years? how has that affected imagination at the individual & societal levels?
imo our inability to see the stars [well] from cities is perhaps the most tragic (& potentially destructive) aspect of modern living
if anyone's privy to relevant psychological studies on how human's are effected by consistent access to well-starred skies would love to read [not presently aware of any]

well written! I had my best star viewing hunting in the middle nowhere west texas, so I can imagine how great the time-lapse must have been
I like to think about the combination of stronger stars plus a much lower informational noise background which would lead our minds to really reach for meaning vs block out meaning. Constellations must have been really powerful back then.
