Busy day for today. Here are a few quick shots. One across Birmingham and the other as the light begins to fade over South Staffs.

It’s been a real morning on the way down to Manchester. We think the line of cloud in the second shot is probably the jetstream currently crossing the UK, it’s unusual to see such a defined line. First pic might be Kelvin-Helmholtz cloud, can any weather buffs comment?

Fascinating. Already some evidence that personal assistant devices (Amazon Alexa, Google home etc...) can identify atonal breathing vs other obstructive breathing patterns to identify cardiac arrest.

This January are focussing on recruiting more male donors but why are men so important as blood donors? Which components are specifically made from donations from men and why? challenged me to a tweetorial on this topic, so here it is!

„Rates of survival and favourable neurological outcome decrease the longer a patient is in cardiac arrest. Thus, the duration of cardiac arrest, rather than time to drug administration, is the key determinant of outcome.“

Consider: millions of years ago our antecedents gave a massive sacrifice of their left hemisphere. We lost a tremendous amount of short term memory and replaced it with Broca’s, Wernicke & the phonological loop. But why? So we can—talk. Thus chimpanzees can do this—we can’t:

After returning back to Cosford, a separate crew then conducted some recurrent training, including instrument approaches at Liverpool. This was the very late flight departing Cosford after our operational hours had ended

We’ve conducted a few of these in the past and last night the Critical Care Team were flown after darkness to rendezvous and assist with a patient in Worcestershire. The patient was then flown to a major trauma centre saving time over a land transfer.

Weather permitting, we can conduct night transfers (lit pad to lit pad) during our normal hours of operation. We have a number of CELL sites to RVP with Ambulances to provide Critical Care Team assistance and/ or expedite patient transfer to hospital.
