It is very easy to get into a very deep hole of emails all about a programming language. Then multiply across all the languages you work on. Now add email folders for each operating system. Then subfolders for each crucially important bit that might as well be its own OS.
Then add a tree for Apache Foundation projects if you have to deal with those. Add another tree for Linux Foundation projects if you deal with those. Mozilla and Node.js, as appropriate for you. Great! Now you're managing about 200 hours a week of email reading.

Tagging works wonders in outlook...but there definitely comes a point where the colors cannot be so easily distinguished!

Yeah, this was just to group all the feeds into folders by topic, so after that, they all get color coded into shades somewhere between their respective overall topics based on how often they dip into other topics...
