Shower thoughts: If you converted a stereoscopic image pair into two radiofax transmissions so that the left image was played to the left ear and vice versa, could the inter-aural time differences tell your brain something meaningful about 3D depth in the image?

Not immediately, as it’s mapping left/right into time, instead of near/far. Your brain won’t know the row pitch, so up/down becomes repetition. Maybe it can be learnt if a row has a pause. Blind people can learn to “see” with pressure on their tongue: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brainport
