Flipped normals are normal behaviour (pun intended). You can flip/recalculate them in edit mode with the faces selected: Mesh->Normals->Flip Although I'm using 2.81 and negative scaling preserves normals, which I wasn't expecting.

I know the flipped normals is normal for negative scaling, but one would expect they would not flip back when exporting PLY, as the exporter is supposed to apply *all* transforms. Yes, it doesn't always work, the surest way to flip normals is to use S + mouse a couple of times :)

This could be a bug, but I don't normally (npi) work with 3D software so could be expected, too? 1. Scale (s) the default cube to -1.5 so that normals flip 2. Export as PLY 3. Import the PLY 4. scale transform is correctly applied to size but the two objects have opposite normals
