Maybe I'm overreacting, maybe Amy Laurent is coming from a well-meaning place. But this feels like it will encourage harassers.

Do you believe she's serious or that she's being sarcastic? I'd like to think the latter but given her work it's likely not true.

not a bad question, but I tend to assume most people want to be left alone. I met my wife through mutual friends.

I think most people actually do welcome friendly conversation. They get annoyed by weirdos, male or female.

but even that could be seen as an intrusion. kinda glad I'm married and don't have to worry about all that.
